“It's the possibility of having a dream come true that makes life interesting,” and in the pursuit of his dream, artist Kyle Krauskopf has certainly had an interesting life. Over the past 8 years he has moved across the country (5 times), built a brewery, backpacked through Europe, built an art museum, built an art collective, jumped great and small mental, physical, and emotional hurdles, and survived a global pandemic- all the while making art.
The way he viewed his practice, output, and goals all began to change in 2015 when he set out to create a small wooden animal every day for the year. Affectionately titled 365 Days of Wood this project fanned a flame already burning brightly in him. Since then he has made thousands of pieces ranging from wooden sculpture to mixed media portraiture. Some pieces were created to fight boredom, some to bring awareness to injustices, some to uplift and offer hope to others, and some to combat his own personal demons. All of these and more will be on display at In The Meantime: A Retrospective.
Krauskopf hopes you will join him in this look at persistence and resilience from an artist who strives to learn, grow, and aid others, not just in his work, but in the way he walks through the world.
On view Saturdays from 12-4PM.
Viewing appointments are available, too. Email krauskopfimages@gmail.com.
